It depicts Julian Albans as a bully. When he gets home one afternoon, his grandmother Sara is there. Disturbed by his callous actions, she talks of her early years spent in Nazi-occupied France. When the Germans begin picking up Jewish kids at her school, fifteen-year-old Sara flees. She is helped by her often bullied polio classmate Julien Beaumier, who hides her in his family's barn while she nervously awaits word of her parents' disappearance. "White Bird" narrates two interwoven tales, one of which centres on the life of a teenage Jewish girl during the rise of Adolf Hitler. Several scenes are incredibly powerful, especially when teachers try to shelter their kids from the Nazis.
