Banded microcrystalline quartz containing traces of iron and aluminum is known as crazy lace agate. It often comes in a variety of intricate brilliant colors and has a highly crafted surface with distinctive designs that resemble woven lace. Consequently, several shades of green, grey, black, and brown are readily visible, along with sporadic red and pink hues. It is often referred to as Mexican Agate and is fresh compared to other earth minerals. However, the stone has long been worn as an amulet and is thought to help wrap protection around its user.
