Liam had always been a bit of a night owl. It wasn’t unusual for him to stay up well past midnight, especially since he worked remotely and didn’t need to be up early. That night, he sat at his desk, working on a project with his headphones on, totally absorbed. The apartment was silent, lit only by his computer screen. At some point, he felt his phone buzz on the desk next to him.

A message appeared on the lock screen: "I'm outside your window."

Liam smirked, assuming it was his friend Joel pulling a prank. Joel loved to scare him and often sent creepy messages late at night to get a reaction. This one was a little off though since Liam’s apartment was on the third floor, but he played along.
