Azurite Malachite Harmony: Where Blue and Green Unite in Beauty

Azurite malachite is a unique blend of two widely recognized gemstones: the rich, almost lapis-like blues of azurite and the vibrant green hues of banded malachite. The term "azurite" is derived from "lazhward," a Persian word meaning "blue," while "malachite" traces back to the Greek term "molochitis," which refers to the "mallow plant." Occasionally, this stone is referred to as azurmalachite. It is commonly crafted into cabochons or carved into intricate small art pieces. The oldest known mine for these gemstones is located in the Timna Valley, Israel, with a history of over 3,000 years.
